I recently purchased the Adagio Green Tea sampler. For $14 dollars I received 6 different types of green tea. The adagio sampler includes pi lo chun, gunpowder, zi nutcracker, spiced green, kukicha, and white monkey. Each tea comes in a quaint little one ounce canister. I like this type of packaging for tea because it keeps the tea pretty fresh and the leaves don’t risk getting broken up during shipping. I basically found the Adagio sampler to be a nice array of different green teas for a very good price. And another thing I enjoyed about Adagio was how they have a point system and discount on refills (50 cents) to help returning customers save money. For every dollar you spend at Adagio you recieve on point, and once you reach one hunred points you recieve a free $10 gift certificate. So, for purchasing this tea sampler I recieved 14 rewards points, also I wrote a review for the product (on the adagio site) which will give me 50 cents off of my next purchase. Here is some information and my reviews of the teas I received.

- Pi Lo Chun. This was definately my favorite from the green tea sampler. Pi lo chun is a Chinese green tea from the Fujian province of China. The Pi Lo Chun tea leaves are rolled into spirals, and are well known for their interesting snail like shape. These teas are known for growing among plum and apricot teas, and are said to absorb the flavor of the fruit blossoms. The fruity undertone was probably my favorite part of the Pi Lo Chun, the tea has a very sweet scent also. This tea has a green/yellow liquor and has a very nice light, fresh, and mildly sweet flavor.
- Gunpowder. Gunpoweder green tea comes from the Guangdong province of China. The tea leaves are rolled into small little balls that resemble gunpowder. I found the Adagio Gunpowder to be very good, and it was my second favorite Adagio tea. The gunpowder pellets produced a very nice green-copper colored liquor, a nice pungent taste, and a unique undertone of smokiness. This is probably my favorite green tea to use for iced tea.
- White Monkey. This tea is also grown in the Fujian province of China. Young tea leaves and unopened buds all picked by hand make for a nice green tea. Very mild flavored, basic light green tea with just a tad of sweetness.
- Li zi Nutcracker. From Guangdong province of China. Small greyish tea leaves, and a slight nutty aroma and taste. I also tasted a slight hint of smokiness maybe slightly resembling the gunpowder, but I definately think the Gunpowder was a lot better. I would have liked a nuttier flavor, because I found this tea to be a bit bland.
- Spiced Green. Chinese Green Tea with cinnamon, cardamon, and ginger flavorings. I am not of big fan of flavored green teas, but I suppose the spiced green could make for a nice iced tea.
- Kukicha. This is a Japanese green tea made from a combination of tea leaves and twigs. The leaves / twigs are a very nice green color and very visually appealing. However, this was my least favorite tea from the Adagio green tea sampler. This tea has a very strong grassy flavor, that you may love, but I personally didn’t like the very strong grassy after taste.
My overall review of the adagio green tea sampler is very positive. I recommend it for anyone who has not tried to many green teas and does not want to spend to much. I loved the pi lo chun, but was not a huge fan of the kukicha. But, I definately think the sampler was a good buy just because of all the variety.
