Tea Bricks…?

February 28th, 2008 by tmikuckis

chinese china tea brickI recently learned something rather interesting about tea. It turns out, that back in the day, out in China, tea used to be compressed into large bricks. These huge bricks of tea were used as an ancient form of currency. I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a huge chinese brick of gourmet tea!!! especially considering how tea can be anywhere from $2-$15 and even more for only a few ounces. Although I could not find any actual tea bricks for sale online, I did find something similar. At generation tea they sell basically a huge tea brick, but in a circular form…take a look here . I guess this could be an interesting tea related present…
