When the average joe thinks of tea, he also thinks of scones. So if you are interested in making some scones with your tea, here is my scone recipe. (actually really pretty good!). (makes 8 scones)
.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 8 tbls. butter (unsalted)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/3 cup sugar
- a pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup of dried fruit, nuts, etc.
- preheat oven to 400 degrees
- In bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking soda and powder, and salt. Cut butter into small peices and work into the mixture. Add nuts, dried fruit etc. And in a seperate bowl mix the sour cream and egg until it smoothifies.
- Combine the two mixtures in a bowl and work with hands into a ball.
- Put the dough on a lightly flowered surface. Roll it so that it is a little less than an inch thick. Now, with a knife cut the dough into 8 seperate peices, in whatever shape you desire. (if you want scones that are a little sweeter you can sprinkle on some sugar.)
- Place scones in an oven and bake until they are golden brown, around 16 minutes or so.
And there you have it, some delicious scones to eat with your tea!
