Old tea leaves…After making a few batches of tea, you may be wondering what to do with all those used tea leaves, rather than just throwing them in the trash. There are actually quite a few good ways to use these old leaves so that they don’t just end up going to waste.
- Soothe your skin! Old tea leaves can be used in a few ways to help your skin. If you have a cut or scrape, the tea leaves can be used to help stop itchiness and redness. Tea is also a natural antiseptic. All you need to do wrap the leaves in a damp paper towel and rub it where you need to. The used leaves can also be used to soothe sunburned skin. The natural tannins in green tea will help cool and repair your skin
- Make stuff smell good! Tea is very good at absorbing surrounding odors. Placing dried tea leaves in the refrigerator can absorb bad smells and keep the fridge smelling nice and fresh. The leaves can also be placed in pretty much any smelly places be it in an old pair of shoes or in the bathroom!
- Create a Tea Pillow. I don’t know if many people have actually done this, but it is possible if you save up a whole ton of old tea leaves! All you need to do is put a lot of dried tea leaves in a pillow case. One benefit of a tea pillow is that it is said to have natural sleep inducing qualities, and probably a great aroma!
- A tea infused bath. Simply add some tea leaves to the bath tub and enjoy a relaxing bath, plus all the skin benefits that tea can provide.
- Make rich Compost. Tea leaves make a great addition to any compost. Just add some to your flower pot etc. for much richer soil.
So, before throwing your green tea leaves (or any type of tea leaves) away again, just remember all the great things you can do with these leaves.

great advice. A tea pillow… sounds pretty interesting, but it sure would need a lot of tea leaves…
